AFTERCARE
LOVE IT LIKE YOU MEAN IT
We recommend Hustle Butter for aftercare.
(Not sponsored… yet. Manifesting.)
Taking care of your tattoo is part of the deal. What happens after you leave the studio matters just as much as what happens in the chair. Poor aftercare can mess up the heal, the look, and the longevity of your tattoo — and that part is on you.
KEEP IT COVERED
- Leave the bandage on for at least 1 hour.
- If SecondSkin is used, keep it on for 2–3 days unless instructed otherwise
REMOVING THE BANDAGE
- Remove SecondSkin in the shower. Let warm water run over it while you gently peel it off. Slow and easy. Don’t rip it like a band-aid.
WASHING YOUR TATTOO
- Use lukewarm water and an unscented, gentle soap.
- Wash with your clean hand only — no towels, loofahs, or scrub energy.
- If it feels slimy, that’s plasma. Totally normal. Gently wash it away so it doesn’t dry and scab.
- Pat dry with a clean paper towel.
- Apply a thin layer of unscented lotion.
- Do this for at least 2 weeks.
- Do NOT use Neosporin, alcohol, or peroxide. Ever.
BATHING & SWIMMING
- Showers are fine.
- Do not soak your tattoo.
- No baths, pools, hot tubs, or beach for 2–3 weeks. Water ruins vibes and heals.
SCABBING, PEELING & ITCHING
- Peeling and light scabbing are normal.
- Do not pick or scratch. Seriously.
- If it itches — slap it.
- If it’s peeling — lotion.
- If it’s scabbing — leave it alone.
SUN PROTECTION
- The sun is not your tattoo’s friend.
- Once healed, always use 30+ SPF.
- Tanning fades tattoos. Protect your investment.
TL;DR (FOR THE IMPATIENT)
DO:
